Quadrilaterals characteristics
- Every quadrilateral has four sides.
- In a quadrilateral have four angles.
- The sum of all four interior angles of a quadrilateral is 360 degree.
- The sum of all four exterior angles of a quadrilateral is also 360 degree.
- A quadrilateral has four vertex.

Classifying Quadrilaterals
Here we are given the types of quadrilaterals.
1. Trapezium
2. Parallelogram
3. Rhombus
4. Rectangle
5. Square
6. Kite
1. Trapezium
A quadrilateral in which a pair of sides is parallel, called Trapezium.
In the above figure we can see that side AB ।। CD.
2. Parallelogram
A quadrilateral whose opposite sides are parallel and equal is, called a parallelogram.
A parallelogram is a quadrilateral. The figure given above is a parallelogram.
Parallelogram has some special properties
- Opposite side are equal and parallel.
AB = CD and AD = BC
AB ।। CD and AD ।। BC - Opposite angles of parallelogram are equal.
∠A = ∠C and ∠B = ∠D - A parallelogram have two diagonal, which are intersect each other in equal parts.
OP = OR and OS = OQ
3. Rhombus
A quadrilateral whose all sides are equal and opposite sides are parallel, called Rhombus.
Rhombus has some special properties
- Each side are equal and opposite side are parallel.
AB = CD and AD = BC
AB ।। CD and AD ।। BC - Opposite angle are equal
∠A = ∠C and ∠C = ∠D - Both diagonal bisect each other vertically.
OP = ON = OQ = OM

6. Kite
Kite is a special type of a quadrilateral. The sides with the same marking in below figure are equal.
In the above figure we can see that AB = AD and BC = CD
A kite has 4 sides, so it is a quadrilateral.
There are exactly two distinct consecutive pairs of sides of equal length.
